Granville Street Redevelopment Project

In December 2008 the City of Vancouver started the Granville Street redesign project.  The redesign of Granville Street, from Drake Street to Cordova Street, responds to the need to enhance the transit, pedestrian movement, and the vitality of the street, re-establishing it as one of downtown’s most important streets.  For more information on this project click here.

Pacific Centre Developments

We are excited to announce that Sephora will be opening at Pacific Centre on Friday, July 10 2009.  The new store will be located in the old Shoppers Drug Mart space.  Work on the store began in early March and is progressing well.  Hoarding has now been installed along Dunsmuir & Howe Streets in order to complete the exterior of the store.  Underground clothing is expected to open on July 2.  They will be on the lower level just by TimeCo.

The redevelopment of Pacific Centre continues with two new projects on the horizon.

The first project is the build-out of a new Aritzia store located on the upper level of the Centre. The new store will be located in the current Le Chateau space and will be double the size of the current Aritzia store. In order to facilitate the build-out, hoarding will be erected on May 29 and will remain in place until the store opens in the Fall 2009.  The new Le Chateau store is now located on the lower level and opened in mid June.

The second project is the closure of the Vancouver Centre corridor on June 1, 2009. This space will be reconfigured in to a new retail unit with an exciting new retailer opening late fall 2009. Until the new Canada Line corridor opens in September 2009 access to Vancouver Centre can be gained through The Bay - Men's Wear level.

Pacific Centre Rotunda

Having spent over $60 million to date on the on-going redevelopment of Pacific Centre, the next project within Centre will be a renewal of the Howe Street Rotunda space.

The plan is to update the inside of the Rotunda and create an open and flexible environment by removing the permanent planters and associated seating and introducing a number of new casual soft seating areas and seasonal landscaping.

These changes will provide a spacious and welcoming area where visitors can relax and enjoy the Centre as well as, engage in the many interactive events, activities and entertainment that will be hosted here.

The project is expected to start in late May and will take between 4 - 6 weeks to complete.

Pacific Centre Parkade Vestibule Upgrade/Renovation

We are pleased to announce that, as part of our continuing investment in the Pacific Centre complex, Cadillac Fairview in partnership with Easy Park, is embarking on a project to upgrade and modernize the current P1 and P2 elevator vestibules and stairwells. These elevator vestibules and stairwells service the TD Tower, Four Seasons Hotel, 701 West Georgia Street, Canaccord Tower as well as Pacific Centre Shopping Centre. The project will commence on May 4, 2009, beginning with the TD Tower vestibules, and continue for a period of 16 weeks.

During the first phase (6 weeks in duration), the vestibules and stairs on both parking levels will be inaccessible, and the elevators will be locked-off from descending beyond the Mall level. (located at the South end of the Shopping Centre)

Directional signage will be present throughout the affected parts of the property to guide visitors to the most suitable alternative parkade entrance which, in this instance, will be the stairwell and elevators in the Pacific Centre Food Court.

Canada Line Corridor Link

Pacific Centre is excited to announce the construction of a link connecting the shopping centre to the new Vancouver City Centre Station currently being constructed on Granville Street. The Vancouver City Centre Station is one of three Canada Line Stations in the downtown area.

The Canada Line corridor link will be located at the south end of the Centre between the Sony Store and RW&CO on the 2nd level.

The Canada Line link is expected to open in September 2009 in conjunction with the opening of the Canada Line transit system.

Sport Chek Expansion Project is now complete

Sport Chek and Coast Mountain Sports have completed an expansion and renovation project.
